Danish folk musicians "Bugge and Høirup;" Kristian Bugge, fiddle, and Martin Alfred Høirup, guitar and vocals: Danish Folk Artist and Instrumentalist of the Year, and Danish Folk Composer of the Year, Kristian and Martin are en route from the Northwest Folk Life Festival in Seattle, WA to Copenhagen, via the Danish Home! Come listen to traditional Danish folk music, and learn folk dances.

The Art Barn this year:
Long Island artists Birgit Jacobsen and Frank Leocoti are
joined this year by Danish Home resident artist Rita Cosentino
and CHHS student photographer Leo Rinaldi. Marjorie Fontaine
will exhibit some of the paintings of her father, Danish American
professional artist the late Ludwig Lund. Mr. Lund was the
official artist of the American 2nd Air Group in WWII.

We had a wonderful time Saturday, June 4. The weather was
picture perfect, the food and drink delicious, and the music
enjoyable all day long.
Keynote speaker Joan Hentze brought her family, and spoke
eloquently about some of the unique characteristics that
make Denmark the "happiest country on earth."

April 14-18, 2016 Musik Efterskolen fra Humble, DK (http:/www.musikefterskolen.dk)were in the Greater NYC area.
They performed at the Jacob Riis Settlement House in Queens, at the Danish Sisterhood GCEL convention at the Danish Home in Edison, NJ, at the Grand Opening of the new Flying Tiger store inManhattan, at the Brooklyn Bridge entrance on City Hall Plaza in Manhattan and at the Central Park Bandshell in Central Park.
The Efterskolen, a unique Danish residential school where students from the ages of 15 to 17 spend a year to finish their primary education. This particular kind of school is based on the educational ideas of the Danish philosopher N.F.S. Grundtvig aiming to educate the students in terms of academic education as well as personal development. Musikefterskolen i Humble specializes in rhythmic music and provides the students with various kinds of music lessons led by very qualified teachers.
